The course starts on the Friday morning.

Friday/Saturday/Sunday (3 days classroom)
Sunday evening - Friday afternoon (5 days practical)
Saturday/Sunday (2 days classroom)

Develop your sailing skills, experience and knowledge on this extended course that combines both the RYA Day Skipper practical and theory courses.

Key learning points: navigation and pilotage, preparation of sea, rules of the road, sail handling, skippering responsibilities,  man overboard recovery, emergency equipment and precautions, engine maintenance, passage planning, night sailing and meteorology

Meals onboard: The boat will be stocked to provide three meals per day as well as snacks and drinks. If you have any special dietary requirements please note them when booking.
The Yacht: 38ft Hanse 385. Commercially coded by RYA/MCA as category 2 compliant the yacht can carry 6 people including the Skipper. Facilities onboard include; heating, hot water, cooker, fridge, toilet, Radar, GPS and AIS.

Arrival and Departure: This course starts on Friday morning and you will spend the first three days ashore before heading onboard the yacht, returning back to the Centre on Friday. You will complete the final aspects of theory on Saturday and Sunday. Accommodation will be allocated to you on the Friday and Saturday evening of both weekends.

Please bring with you; warm clothes, a sleeping bag and pillow, towel and wash bag and sailing wellies (not black soled)

Next Steps: If you enjoyed this week want to progress your cruising, you should build up your hours and experience and theoretical knowledge up to RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster theory level before considering the RYA Coastal Skipper practical course.
