Swimming Lessons

Swimming is a fundamental life skill, and a critical skill that can help to increase water safety and save lives. At Plas Menai, our junior and adult swimming lessons are designed to help participants of all ages to develop and stay safe near the water, all while learning a fun, healthy activity.

Junior Swimming Lessons

Our Junior Learn to Swim Pathway is delivered in partnership with Swim Wales and maintains a focus on fun and games to help children develop the skills they need to become a competent swimmer. Children are guided through from the earliest splash to becoming confident and strong swimmers.

Please be aware that many of our classes are now full and we are operating a waiting list. Unless you have been contacted by a member of the Plas Menai swim team and informed of the class that you need to join, please do not book online through our online booking system and instead call us on 0300 3003112 to be added to the existing waiting list.

Adult Swimming Lessons

It is never too late to learn how to swim! Swim Wales believes that every person should have a chance to learn to swim and become the very best swimmer they can be, and at Plas Menai, we echo that sentiment. Join our adult swimming lessons to begin your journey to becoming a strong, confident swimmer and learn a fun, healthy activity.

Intensive Swimming Lessons

Intensive Courses are a great way for children to be introduced to swimming lessons or to improve on what they already know. Smaller class sizes over a week-long period cover the essentials of swimming and water safety.

Private Swimming Lessons

Get a truly tailored experience with our private swimming lessons, available for both children and adults. A one-on-one or small group swimming lesson with our highly skilled teachers and instructors can help participants make the most of their lessons, working on the skills that are most important to them.

Parkwood Leisure, one of the UK’s leading leisure operators, has brought its award-winning Learn to Swim programme to Plas Menai National Outdoor Centre. 

The programme aims to teach children and adults to become competent and strong swimmers to promote safety in the water, incorporating dedicated safety outcomes endorsed by the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS).

Launched in partnership with Swim Wales, the Learn to Swim programme is part of Parkwood Leisure’s commitment to grow and enhance Plas Menai’s services.The programme includes Swim Wales Wave 1 level, aimed at children who are starting their swim journey, plus higher levels to support older children preparing for Swim Club, also encouraging both adults and children to safely partake in swimming to improve their health, fitness, and wellbeing. 

The swimming pool has been a major area of development at Plas Menai, as the Learn to Swim programme gives everyone the opportunity to take part, regardless of any differential factors or circumstances, helping to support swimming as part of a healthy lifestyle. The Centre is also recruiting for more Swim Teachers in-line with demand for swimming lessons. 

The success of the programme has received wider industry recognition in recent years, with the scheme being highly commended in two categories at the 2021 and 2022 ukactive Awards.
