Plas Menai

Refurb Update March 2022

As a result of extensive investment from the Welsh Government and Sport Wales, the work continues on the installation of our new carbon efficient heating system at Plas Menai along with repairs and upgrades to the ventilation system for the centre.

The project has encountered some unforeseen technical difficulties that have resulted in the project completion date being delayed. The temporary closure that has been in place since the end of December 2021 is anticipated to continue until the end of April 2022, enabling the contractors to have full access to the site to complete the extensive refurbishment programme.

Whilst the centre itself is closed to the public, some courses, that can be run off site, will begin again in the second week of April. Those customers that have booked onto these courses will be informed of the slight changes to the course details including arrival information and location.
We look forward to welcoming the wider public and our groups back to the centre itself at the end of April and an exact date will be communicated closer to the time.

The work is crucial for creating a sustainable future for Plas Menai. The Centre is leading by example in reducing carbon emissions and supporting the move towards the entire public sector becoming carbon neutral by 2030.

This project is a further significant step on the journey that we have already embarked on which to date includes the installation of solar panels in 2021, our new electric vehicle, removing single use plastics from the centre and introducing energy efficient lighting systems.

The decision to remain closed for the first part of April 2022 is taking into account the health and safety needs of customers and staff.

In coming weeks, we look forward to sharing our exciting plans for the rest of the year including a busy summer programme of activities and courses for all. They are all available to book through the website on our Courses and Activities pages. We also look forward to welcoming back our Menai Dragons and Squads from May onwards. Lywodraeth Cymru a Chwaraeon Cymru, mae’r gwaith yn parhau ar osod ein system wresogi carbon-effeithlon newydd ym Mhlas Menai ynghyd ag atgyweirio ac uwchraddio’r system awyru ar gyfer y ganolfan.

Mae'r prosiect wedi wynebu rhai anawsterau technegol na rhagwelwyd sydd wedi arwain at ohirio dyddiad cwblhau'r prosiect. Rhagwelir y bydd y cau dros dro sydd wedi bod yn ei le ers diwedd Rhagfyr 2021 yn parhau tan ddiwedd mis Ebrill 2022, gan alluogi’r contractwyr i gael mynediad llawn i’r safle i gwblhau’r rhaglen adnewyddu helaeth.

Tra bod y ganolfan ei hun ar gau i'r cyhoedd, bydd rhai cyrsiau, y gellir eu rhedeg oddi ar y safle, yn dechrau eto ynystod yr ail wythnos o fis Ebrill. Bydd y cwsmeriaid hynny sydd wedi archebu lle ar y cyrsiau hyn yn cael gwybod am y mân newidiadau i fanylion y cwrs gan gynnwys gwybodaeth cyrraedd a lleoliad.

Edrychwn ymlaen at groesawu’r cyhoedd ehangach a’n grwpiau yn ôl i’r ganolfan ei hun ddiwedd mis Ebrill a bydd union ddyddiad yn cael ei gyfathrebu yn nes at yr amser.

Mae'r gwaith yn hollbwysig ar gyfer creu dyfodol cynaliadwy i Blas Menai. Mae’r Ganolfan yn arwain drwy esiampl o ran lleihau allyriadau carbon a chefnogi’r symudiad tuag at y sector cyhoeddus cyfan yn dod yn garbon niwtral erbyn 2030.

Mae'r penderfyniad i aros ar gau am ran gyntaf Ebrill 2022 yn cymryd i ystyriaeth anghenion iechyd a diogelwch cwsmeriaid a staff.

Yn yr wythnosau nesaf, edrychwn ymlaen at rannu ein cynlluniau cyffrous am weddill y flwyddyn gan gynnwys rhaglen haf brysur o weithgareddau a chyrsiau i bawb.
